Gung-Ho in Kent

The Total Wipeout-style course, suitable for adults and children alike, will certainly end on a high as participants take a trip down the 200ft-long ‘Thriller’ – a slide taller than THREE double decker buses.
While keen runners may aim to complete the course in a personal best time, people of all ages, shapes, sizes and levels of fitness are invited to give it a go individually or as part of a team.

The fun-filled 5k is the brainchild of CBeebies presenter Alex Winters, who will also host the event. He is looking forward to its Kent debut and raising as much money as possible for charity. This weekend Gung-Ho! hit brandshatch and we were so excited (even a little scared) up one end of the field was tents with stalls, sign in, places to get food and the stage - where Alex Winters was entertaining the crowd. Also the place for the warm up session.
bit of dad dancing!
The course can be tackled by anyone over 48 inches tall, male, female, young, old, big, small, elite athlete or armchair sports fan. It really is inclusive and lends itself to team building and family events. Unfortunately there was a delay getting started BUT something can not be helped and safety of everyone comes first.

waiting at the start line.
We were soon off and luckily you soon start to spread out - it is only a 5km walk but I think they laid out the course made it feel much longer and lots of gap from time to time in between obstacles. So why don't I show you some of the things we were up against...

DAY TRIPPER : Will you hop, skip and jump your way to the end?
WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE : Crawl, climb, and clamber the ups n downs of this challenge!
CAN I KICK IT? Will you kick, roll or stumble your way through the giant ball pit? You decide. These balls might be the biggest on the planet at over 6.5ft tall best bring your big boots if you think you can Kick it.
THE WALL : It feels much higher than it looks. Be prepared to just jump off the other side.
WALKING ON THE MOON : At 5000 sq. ft. this is huge! It might be the biggest bounce you’ll ever see. Once you’re jumping on this giant, you’ll feel like you’re on another planet.
I have never laughed so much it certain places, and actually managed to conquer more than I was expecting. As well as the MASSIVE Thriller Slide at the end, anyone that knows me knows heights are just not my thing.

All participants receive a free bib with race number, Gung-Ho! t-shirt, headband and wristbands, while any spectators can attend for free and enjoy the food stalls and music.
