Summer isn’t complete without a picnic in the park, by the lake, or on the beach - yummy finger foods, maybe something with bubbles and hundreds of photos to be taken! making sure to get that instagram worth snap, but what are the top tips to having / hosting that ultimate picnic:
The Tools
It might be easier to just chuck everything into carrier bags when you go to head out, but actually invest in a good basket - no more chasing the bags in the breeze when it's been emptied out. This beautiful natural wicket basket made a perfect addition to our latest picnic and are all the range.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - picnics are no excuse we still need to look after the environment. There are plenty of places that you can buy packs of colourful plates, bowls and cutlery.
On top of that are you fed up of buying blankets that are just not big enough for the whole family, why not find a colourful tablecloth - generally it will be bigger than a blanket and will probably feel softer and you can just chuck it in the washing machine when you are home.
Games
Especially if you have kids are the picnic you are going to need to keep them entertained - outdoor toys and games are easy to pick up in most shops for a decent price. The traditional football or bat and ball are my personal favourites. One for the grown ups though, why not take a board game or a deck of cards.
Outfit
Picking the right thing to wear can be a nightmare, especially if you don't know what the weather is going to do - this summer and the fact we have had several heat waves already. I decided to get myself some lightweight options - one being my new favourite maxi dress from debenhams. It is perfect, easy to get around in and basic so I can dress it up or down.
Food & Drink
Always be weary of the weather, you do not need to find melted chocolate over everything.
Top Tip - Freeze a large plastic bottle of water and it will double as an ice pack for your bag to keep your other foods cool.
Memories
Make sure the camera comes with you! This is your very own little adventure, and the chances are you are either with the family or friends and why wouldn't you want to capture the moment.
