Travel: Have A Français Christmas Holiday

As Christmas approaches, you’re probably thinking of presents and seeing family, which are both exhausting and stressful things to arrange during the holiday season in themselves. What you’re probably not thinking is that the solution to it all is to celebrate your Christmas in France, but that could be the perfect solution. It’s time you made more time for travel anyway. A French Christmas holiday means the whole family will feel as if they’re on holiday, rather than just the kids, and it also means that you don’t have to worry about organizing things back home. You can leave it all and jet off on an adventure. France is a big place, of course. Here are some ideas for places you could go to celebrate Christmas in style this year.

The Alps.
Stunning. That’s what they are, as you can see from the picture above. Except, it’s hard to really gauge just how stunning the French Alps are until you experience them in person. Of course, there is much more to the Alps than the ski resorts and beautiful slopes, though those are two wonderful things you should definitely try to experience if you want to get into that wintery Christmas feel. The region also boasts some marvelous little towns such as Annecy which is often called the Venice of Savoie. It’s a photogenic place with the Alps sitting behind it; definitely worth the visit.

Meribel.
There’s no denying that winter in Meribel is absolutely stunning, and that’s why you should definitely look into some options in terms of accommodation up in those snowy slopes. It’s not just about staying in some beautiful, luxurious hotel but the joy of heading down crisp white slopes and feeling the rush of adrenaline (and icy wind, most likely) beating against you. It’s a rush like no other, and you could be doing it in one of the most beautiful places in the world rather than some ski slope back home.

Of course, if you’re not much of a skier and neither is anybody else in your family, you don’t have to dismiss this holiday idea. There is always the option to take it easy and admire the beautiful slopes of Meribel from the warmth of the indoors if you’d prefer to enjoy your Christmas holiday that way. At the end of the day, it is nice to just have a beautiful snowy backdrop out of your window when you’re trying to get into the festive spirit. If you feel like it’s not going to snow back home then this is a way to cheat and get the white Christmas you want.

Normandy.
Not much needs to be said about Normandy other than the fact that you must visit it. The beautiful Mont St-Michel is a French landmark rivaled only by the Eiffel Tower, but it’s almost more glorious than the Eiffel Tower in many ways. There’s more to this landmark; it has more depth and detail. There’s far more to see. It sits in a beautiful setting too; lapping tides and endless sand surround this masterpiece. It’s a glorious place to see in winter or summer, so it’d be the perfect Christmas setting.

Nice.

If you want to go to France for the sun and the beautiful beaches so that you can treat the Christmas holiday as if it’s a summer holiday then Nice is definitely the place to go. It’s a stunning city on the coast. If you like the sea and the beach then it’s an open and shut case. You will love this city, and you’ll have a Christmas like no other.
